California Lemon Law

California has one of the toughest auto "lemon" laws in the country. However, Californians continue to have trouble persuading manufacturers to replace or buy back defective consumer products. California's lemon law covers cars, trucks, RVs, boats, motorcycles and many other consumer products.

You may qualify under the California Lemon Law for a repurchase or replacement vehicle if any of the following apply to your situation:

• Your vehicle have has been out of service for 30 or more days.
• Your vehicle has been to the dealer 4 or more times for the same problem.
• Your vehicle has been to the dealer 2 or more times for a safety related problem.
• You have reached the point where you no longer trust the reliability of your vehicle.

USED CAR MARKET

Thousands of vehicles that sat in the murky waters left by hurricanes Katrina and Rita are starting to show up on the used-car market. Most states require that flooded cars be labeled as such on the title. But scam artists have found loopholes in the system.
